Tri Color Valida Acopora
The Tri-Color Valida is a branching Acropora that typically exhibits a corymbose (clumping) growth form. Its beauty lies in its high-contrast color palette. Under optimal LED or T5 lighting, the growth tips explode with intense violet or blue hues, while the base maintains a rich emerald green or warm tan. What sets this coral apart is its polyp extension; when happy, the polyps are often bright green or white, giving the coral a "fuzzy" and textured appearance that adds movement to the rockwork.
Care Requirements
To maintain the sharp contrast of the "Tri-Color" effect, this coral requires stable parameters and high-intensity environment.
Care Level: Advanced
Temperament: Peaceful (but keep distance from other corals to allow for growth)
Lighting: High (PAR 300–450). High lighting is essential to maintain the deep purple tips. In lower light, the purple may fade to a light tan or brown.
Water Flow: Strong / Random. High, turbulent flow is necessary to keep the tight branches clean of detritus and to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the dense colony.
Placement: Top Tier / Upper Third of the aquarium.
